About the Hotel

1 North Head Scenic Drive, Sydney, Australia, 2095

Q Station is set on Sydney's glorious harbour as one of Australia's most significant heritage and environmental landmarks preserved within 12 hectares of the Sydney Harbour National Park at North Head. This 4-star retreat offers a private beach, ghost tours, and unique accommodations with harbour or garden views.

Heritage Rooms

All guestrooms at Q Station Sydney Harbour National Park feature thoughtful touches such as furnished balconies and laptop-friendly workspaces. The stylish rooms are appointed with a queen-size bed for comfort, while French-style doors open onto balconies overlooking the tranquil grounds or historic Q Station buildings.

Upscale Dining Options

Guests enjoy a light continental breakfast with fruit, cereal and yogurt or a full buffet of hearty classics like scrambled eggs with bacon. The Boilerhouse, open for lunch and dinner, is decked out in an unexpectedly modern, industrial style, serving fresh modern cuisine prepared by Q Station's world class chef.

Activities and Tours

Snorkelling gear, bicycles, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards can be hired from the Luggage Store Visitor Centre, which also serves as a museum. Ghost and haunted tours around the property are also on offer, with a candlelit night-time adventure exploring the darker history of the property running every Friday and Saturday night.

Harbor Transportation Access

Q Station is 16 km from Town Hall and 30 km from Kingsford Smith airport. A ferry service from the Q Station wharf to the city centre operates six times a day, and it's a 15-minute walk to Manly, famous for its beach, cafés and scenic cliff top walks.

My stay at Q Station was quite an interesting experience. The surroundings were absolutely gorgeous, making it a beautiful and tranquil retreat, but there were a few issues that took away from my overall enjoyment. The rooms were basic and lacked essential comforts like proper ventilation and air conditioning. On the dining front, the service could be improved, especially during busy times. While the historical significance of the location is impressive, I wish there had been better options for food availability and faster internet access.

Staying at Q Station was quite an experience! I loved the unique atmosphere and picturesque views of Sydney Harbour. The room was quaint and clean, but we did encounter some issues with the hot water and noise during the night. Overall, it's a great spot if you're looking to explore nature and history, but some amenities could improve for better comfort.

My room was quaint, clean, and had a good size with a cozy feel although there was no air conditioning due to the heritage aspects of the building. The bathroom was quite spacious but using the outside toilet facilities felt inconvenient.

While the hotel's facilities were interesting and fitting for the historical theme, I did think some modern conveniences could enhance the overall experience. The historical information and trails were fantastic.

Our stay at Q Station was memorable mainly due to its stunning location and interesting history. The view over Sydney Harbour was breathtaking, and the private beach provided a relaxing spot to enjoy the surroundings. However, the accommodations were quite basic with a few frustrating aspects, especially the lack of air conditioning and limited dining options. Overall, it felt like a unique experience but not necessarily a luxury getaway.

Rooms

The rooms were basic and clean, but unfortunately lacked air conditioning, making it warm at times. While our room was compact and did not have a view, it met our essential needs for the stay.

Throughout our stay, the service was generally helpful and quick. However, we did encounter a minor issue with shuttle service that could have been handled better.
Location

The location was fantastic, with spectacular views of the harbour and easy access to the ferry for city visits. The historical setting added a charming element to our stay.
Dining

Dining options on-site were limited and a bit pricey, but we did enjoy our breakfast, which was decent. The Boilerhouse restaurant was a highlight, but it was hard to get a reservation, which was frustrating.

The available facilities included a lovely private beach and complimentary shuttle service, which were great for getting around the expansive property.

My stay at the hotel was a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. The views of the Sydney Harbour were breathtaking, and the room was comfortable and clean. I enjoyed the history of the Quarantine Station, and the complimentary shuttle service was a nice touch. However, the hotel felt a bit isolated, which made trips to Manly a bit time-consuming, especially without the former shuttle service into downtown.

Rooms
9.0
The room was comfortable and clean, featuring a spacious en-suite bathroom and complimentary water in the fridge.
Service
7.0
The shuttle service was efficient, making it easy to get around the property, although I would have appreciated a bit more engagement from the staff.
Location
6.0
The location offered incredible views across the harbour, but getting into Manly was a chore without the hourly shuttle service that used to be available.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast buffet was satisfying, but it was a bit repetitive over the three days, lacking variety.
Facilities
8.0
The facilities, including the shuttle service and tours offered, were enjoyable but could have been improved with better access to dining options in Manly.

Our stay at Q Station felt like a unique escape, just a stone's throw from Sydney's hustle and bustle. The location was tranquil and full of history, and the staff were genuinely accommodating. While we thoroughly enjoyed our time, the lack of some amenities and the quirky nature of the room setup were minor setbacks. Overall, it was a delightful getaway that I'd happily recommend.

The service was excellent, with staff members who were attentive and helpful in addressing any concerns we had during our stay.
Location

The hotel's location is simply stunning, with a quiet bush setting that made us feel far removed from the city. We loved the easy access to the beach and historical sites.
Dining
